Commercial Street, Morgan, Utah

Morgan's Commercial Street was built when the transcontinental railroad came through town in early 1869. One side of Commercial Street was lined with dozens of buildings, while the other side only had the railroad depot and the railroad tracks. Commercial Street boomed for almost a hundred years, until passenger service on the transcontinental railroad was discontinued in the late 1960s. From then on, Commercial Street's size has been shrinking, until now only a couple dozen buildings remain.

Sadly, most of the businesses on Commercial Street today are closed down, the buildings for sale or for rent. This is the way it is in a lot of small towns, sadly; small businesses continue to struggle in the US economy.
